Decorating with Cake Toppers
With so many cute and inventive cake toppers on the market today that veer far from the traditional, it’s hard to choose just one. So why bother? Instead of using one single wedding cake topper perched atop of your cake, look to many different cake toppers to represent you and your groom and use them as decorative pieces throughout your wedding to add a touch of whimsy and humor.
For those who talk on their cell phones a lot, you can find a cake topper of a bride and groom blissfully talking on their cell phones. For those with a fishing habit, there are toppers that show the bride reeling her groom in. Instead of having to make the difficult choice of choosing from these and other humorous figurines, when so many represent some aspect of your lives, choose instead to use all of them.
Use them on your guest book table, to spur some memories that guests may write about such as a hobby they have shared with you like golf. For your wedding favor table choose a topper that will coincide with your favor theme, such as a “geeky” groom standing next to a basket of rolled up personalized mouse pads, or keyboard dusters. Or use them at your bar or refreshment stand as a way of amusing guests as they wait in line by using a sports clad groom.
Cake toppers can even be used as centerpiece additions. Instead of escort cards that show a name or a number for a table, use cake toppers as the table identifiers, with a graphic of the topper on the card. To make it even more interesting, you can even try and seat your guests at the table boasting the topper that best reflects the relationship they have to you. Fishing buddies might find themselves at the table with the bride reeling her groom in, co-workers might find themselves at the table with the bride and groom on their cell phones.
A table made up of female friends of the bride can be seated at a table adorned with a princess bride kissing a frog, or the bride giving a love pinch to her groom and tables of male friends of the groom can be seated at a table of an exasperated groom standing near a sign that says “Gone Shopping,” or a topper of the bride wearing the pants underneath her wedding gown and the groom standing there in all his pant-less glory.
Today’s cake toppers are fun and unique novelty pieces that bespeak of many of the fun and humorous aspects that exist between the majority of today’s modern couples. It would be a shame to be limited to using just one. Choose all of the cake toppers that represent you as a couple from humorous to romantic and decorate not just your cake but your entire reception with a full line-up of these wonderful novelty toppers.

Unity Candle Ceremony
Typically, this ceremony consists of individual taper candles that are used simultaneously to light a central pillar candle. Today, these are available in a broad range of decorative styles.
The mothers of the Bride and Groom or other significant members from each family can light the taper candles early in the proceedings. Another option is to have the Bride and Groom light each individual candle and then jointly light the central pillar candle. Accompanying each of the stages of candle lighting are selected verses that truly express the union of two into one.

This striking Modern Monogram Personalized Unity Candle design gives a modern look to the traditional monogram by positioning the bride and groom’s first names in front of a stylized initial of their new last name. Available in several colors. Don’t forget to include the Unity and Pillar Candle Holders.
“How To” for a Wedding Unity Sand Ceremony
The Unity Sand Ceremony is a novel alternative for the popular “unity candle ceremony” incorporated into many of today’s weddings. The essence is to symbolize the union of “two into one”. This sand version is not only beautiful and interesting but also more appropriate for an outdoor setting. With the addition of fresh flowers, these distinctive vases will make an intriguing addition to a home’s decor.
1. The Groom will commence by pouring a portion of the black sand into the central glass vase.
2. The Bride will follow by pouring a portion of the white sand also into the central vase creating a layered effect.
3. To complete the ceremony, the Groom and Bride simultaneously pour the balance of their sand into the central container. To make this process a little easier, create a funnel using decorative paper. Personalize the funnel by including names, date or even poetry that holds a special meaning for the Bride and Groom. (The central vase can be engraved with the Bride and Groom’s monogram). The co-mingling of the colored sand represent the joining of the Bride and Groom.
Consult with your wedding officiate in order to customize the readings and sentiments that will accompany this ceremony.
4. Following the wedding, the two outside vases can be used to display fresh flowers while the central vase will remain a cherished keepsake of your wedding day.
THE FAMILY SAND CEREMONY
The Sand Unity Ceremony has become a very popular option. With the addition of these coordinating Miniature Nesting Vases and contrasting colors of sand, now children can be invited to take part. The mixing of the various sand colors is a fitting way to symbolize the new Blended Family that will result from this union. The Weddingstar Heart Shaped Sand Ceremony Set (shown below) is perfect for the family ceremony with additional vases available for family members. Order as shown for just the bride and groom. Although there are no set guidelines for this ceremony, generally the sand is poured into the central vase in the following order:
1. Father
2. Mother
3. Children
4. Father & Mother together.
Readings and sentiments can be customized as desired.
